iPad owners appear to be showing a preference for reading content on their tablets rather than using a computer or obtaining print editions, according to a survey from copywriting agency Cooper Murphy Webb. The iPad was found to be the preferred method of reading newspapers and magazines for 31 percent of owners in the UK, with the number jumping to 41 percent for books.
Notebook and desktop computers came in second among methods for reading newspapers and magazines, while most of the users not accessing books on an iPad were still reading the print versions. Dedicated e-book readers showed little traction in either category, falling behind smartphones for newspapers and magazines.
Notebook and desktop computers still showed strength as the preferred entertainment device for 33 percent of respondents, although the iPad still scored above televisions.
