Spotify Connect adds audio partners, new devices
Spotify has announced an update to its Connect service, a year after its original launch. Spotify Connect allows users to stream music via Spotify through select devices, using the Spotify app on mobile and tablet as a remote. Originally available on more than 80 speakers from a variety of brands, the number will rise to over 100 compatible devices before the end of the year.
New partners with Spotify Connect include Bose, Panasonic, and Gramofon. Smart TVs such as Philips TVs powered by Android are the first line of Smart TVs to launch with the audio service. Multi-room systems can now be used, allowing for grouping several speakers in one's home to play the same music. Spotify is currently available in 57 markets globally, with more than 40 million active users.
