T-Mobile adds six music streaming services to Music Freedom program

updated 02:50 pm EDT, Wed August 27, 2014

Google Play Music set to join T-Mobile Music Freedom later this year

T-Mobile is expanding its Music Freedom program, almost doubling the number of music streaming services which can be used by subscribers without touching their LTE allowance. The seven existing music services, including iTunes Radio, Pandora, and Spotify, have been joined by another six, just two months after the carrier launched the initiative.

The new services being introduced to Music Freedom today are: AccuRadio, Black Planet, Grooveshark, Radio Paradise, Rdio, and Songza. T-Mobile also advised that the highest-voted service in its customer poll to decide the next addition, Google Play Music after 750,000 votes were tallied, will be added to the service "later this year."

According to CNET, T-Mobile has seen a considerable uptick in music streaming since the announcement, with customers streaming nearly 7 petabytes of music since its launch, and 5 million more songs per day than before the launch.
