BitTorrent Sync 1.4 now available for iOS and OS X, offers simplified syncing
Peer-to-peer file sharing platform BitTorrent has announced the release of the newest version of BitTorrent Sync. Featuring cloud-free syncing, BitTorrent Sync does not utilize central servers or cloud services, so as to improve user security and file transfer speeds. According to BitTorrent's blog announcement, Sync v1.4 is a major update that facilitates the syncing and sharing of larger files. The application's newly integrated workflow includes the introduction of links, reducing the need for setting up an account to download someone's content. Links can be sent directly via email, or can be copied to a communications tool of one's choice.
BitTorrent Sync v1.4 features a customizable folder list, displaying download statuses and other desired information. File content can be synced across desktop and mobile platforms. Sync users have full ownership of their data, with the ability to control a file's Read and Write options, as well as link expirations and approval settings. BitTorrent Sync v1.4 can soon be downloaded for iOS and OS X through the two platforms' respective App Stores.
