Effort expanding as expected to Hong Kong, Mexco, Sweden, Turkey, others
As expected, Apple has grown its Volume Purchase Program for institutions seeking apps and iBooks to 16 new countries. Effective immediately, the program is available in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
The program both offers license management and volume discounts on titles when purchased in bulk. The program launched in 2011, and is a centerpiece of Apple efforts in education and enterprise. Developers aren't required to use the program, and must opt-in to the service. Institutions purchasing through the program receive a 50 percent discount when buying 20 or more licenses.
Content producers who want apps or other offerings available in volume internationally have to take action. A properly-credentialed iTunes Connect account must log into the system, and accept the latest agreement which modifies Contracts, Taxation, and Banking specifics of the program.
