Schematics suggest iPhone 6 may come in 16, 64, and 128GB models

Might discount claims of 16GB being dropped

Another new schematics leak from Chinese repair firm GeekBar suggests that the iPhone 6 may come in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities. Modules from suppliers Toshiba and Hynix are listed, notably excluding 32GB. If the schematics are indeed representative of planned iPhone models, it may hint that Apple is doing a significant shakeup of its usual 16/32/64GB tiers.

One possibility is that 16GB will be paired with the 4.7-inch size, while 64 and 128GB will be limited to the 5.5-inch model. A number of different tier arrangements are possible however, and the leak contradicts a June rumor that Apple is going to drop 16GB as an option. Some rivals, such as HTC, are beginning to do away with 16GB given low flash storage prices, and its diminishing practicality in a world of growing app sizes and media collections.

Apple should announce new iPhones early next month, possibly on September 9.

if they keep the pricing tiers at 199/299/399, wow

or more likely they bump it to 199/399/499

I'll just be glad when Sept. 9 (if even THAT is true) gets here so all this kind of stuff can go away...Sapphire screen? 12 megapixel camera? NFC? 128GB storage? 5.5" model? 1080p res? 2GB RAM? Eye detection? Waterproof screen? Steve Jobs commemorative edition? Or NOT for all of the above?

    Just announce this thing already!!

16 GB is useless. The OS takes up half of that anyway. Might as well market it as an 8 GB iPhone.

iOS takes up nowhere near 8GB of space... are you intentionally being hyperbolic?

What does that even mean? I know what the mathematical shape of a hyperbola is...

And to answer your question: no, Are you?

"Hyperbolic" has meaning outside of mathematics. It means to greatly exaggerate, typically to artificially enhance the degree of the point one is trying to make.

You said that a 16GB phone is useless because iOS takes up almost half (8GB) of that space -- which it does not. It takes up roughly 2GB, and that's erring on the side of caution as to not understate the amount of space it takes up.

So, from you asserting that iOS takes up a lot of space on a 16GB phone and asserting that almost half of the 16GB capacity is unusable due to the operating system, it seems that you were being hyperbolic -- greatly exaggerating the amount of space that iOS takes up in order to artifically enhance your point that 16GB of space is too small.
