Nabi debuts line of 20- and 24-inch kid-friendly Android tablets

updated 11:07 am EDT, Tue August 19, 2014

New tablets feature curated content for children, full Android for adults

Creator of the kid-friendly Nabi tablet, Fuhu has now unveiled the Nabi Big Tab HD 20-inch and Nabi Big Tab HD 24-inch, the world's biggest Android tablets. The very large form-factor tablets are designed around "social interaction, communication, collaboration, and socialized learning," according to the company.

The Nabi Big Tab HD line features a 20- or 24-inch HD+ (1600x900) or Full HD (1920x1080) resolution, respectively. Both feature a 15-point capacitive touch screen, quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, 16 GB of onboard storage and a lightweight, removable carrying frame that is adjustable to any angle or removable for a table-top experience. A "short-term" battery allows limited portability.

Five "experiences" headline the tablet -- "Two Play" with classic games oriented for competitive play; "Game Room" with multiplayer games and activities; "Show Time" featuring apps and videos from Disney and the Cartoon Network; "Story Time" with 35 free interactive e-books, and "Big Canvas" drawing and video-editing apps. The tablet security is buttressed by other curated content for children, including a kid-safe mode, and a password-gated parental mode with the full Android experience.

Nabi Big Tab HD 20-inch and Nabi Big Tab HD 24-inch will launch nationwide this fall at the price of $449 and $549, respectively.
