Gameplay appears to follow decade-old collectible card game
Nintendo property The Pokemon Trading Card Game is coming to the iPad. Following a tease of the game during the Pokemon World Championships currently underway in Washington DC, official representatives have confirmed the title, and that it is coming out on the iPad "later this year." The Pokemon Company has several properties on iOS, but this will be the first game to appear on the platform.
Gameplay appears to follow the long-running collectible card game, originally published by Wizards of the Coast. It is unknown if the game will be both iPhone and iPad, or just iPad -- but the latter seems more likely, given the complexity of the game and other similar titles on the iOS.
It is most likely that the game will follow the "freemium" model, with some virtual cards available to the player at installation, with the rest as either in-app purchases, or with entry of a unique code on packs of cards purchased at retail. It is unknown if the iPad app will be interoperable with the browser-based Pokemon Trainer Challenge.
