housekeeping, rain damage and a new hope for an old Mac

Yesterday in the MacNN forums, Forum Regular "Topaz" sparked a conversation about the best way to clear redundant files and free up hard drive space without accidentally removing essential files. Earlier this week, Administrator "ghporter" was looking for software that could detect duplicate files as he has found an excessive amount of duplicate images on his computer that he would like to remove.

The long-running thread titled "OMG!!! I spilled water/beer/liquid on my Mac Notebook" has seen new life this week, as one Fresh-Faced Recruit recounted the sad story of their MacBook Pro getting rained on, and now wonders ... is there any hope? Grizzled Veteran "chasg" is having problems getting audio to play from his iPad, and turned to the forums looking for advice. "Hawkeye_a" is wondering if an old Mac mini G4 that is located at his parents' house could be useful as a iTunes server.
