Squarespace releases Blog and Note apps for Android

Website design platform Squarespace has released two new apps in beta format for Android users today, entitled Blog and Note. Originally launched for iOS, Blog facilitates Squarespace site management from a smartphone or tablet, and Note is a minimalist note-taking app.

Blog is a complete app, allowing users to create and edit posts as well as moderate comments from multiple blogs; Squarespace customers can add photos, videos and format text. The app supports Markdown as well as its own LayoutEngine. Note consists of a simplistic interface that creates simple text files. Supporting syncing with Evernote, Dropbox, Squarespace and email, Note does not require a Squarespace blog or account.

Skype updates Metro version of its Windows app

Skype has updated its Windows app (Metro version) today, adding the ability to edit messages as well as improvements to video messages. Skype v3.1.0 allows a just-sent message to be edited or deleted by tapping or right-clicking to highlight the text, and then select "edit message" or "remove message" as needed. Multiple lines in sequence can be removed. Notifications for video messages are more reliable, due to overall stability improvements to the app. Skype v3.1.0 can be downloaded directly from the Windows Store.
