Tegra K1-powered Acer Chromebook 13 boasts 13-hour battery life

Acer has launched its first Chromebook using Nvidia's Tegra K1 chip and a 1080p display option. Aside from opting for a Tegra chip instead of the Core i3 the C720 uses, the new Chromebook 13 with a 13.3-inch display is claimed to have a hefty 11-hour battery life for the 1080p model, while the 1366x768-resolution version can last for up to 13 hours on a single charge.

Booting in less than nine seconds thanks to the the Tegra K1's 192-core GPU and 4-plus-1 processor, the Chromebook 13 includes an SD card slot, a 720p webcam, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI output, and Wi-Fi with a 2x2 MIMO antenna. The notebook is also light and thin, with a thickness of 0.71 inches, and a weight of 3.3 pounds.

Three versions of the Chromebook 13 are available to pre-order, with shipments expected to start in September. The 1366x768 model will cost $280 and ship with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of SSD storage, while the 1080p model with the same memory and storage will cost $300. A higher-specification 1080p version with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at $380.
