Sky offers week-long Sky Sports pass to Now TV users

updated 07:12 am EDT, Mon August 11, 2014

Low-cost seven-day pass for streaming service accompanied by day pass price cut

British satellite broadcaster Sky has updated the pricing for Sky Sports on its Now TV streaming device, making it a more-attractive proposition to casual viewers. A new week-long pass is being introduced from this Thursday, allowing viewers to watch for seven days in a row, while the currently-offered 24-hour streaming pass is also receiving a price cut.

The new seven-day pas provides access to all seven Sky Sports channels available through the satellite service, priced at £10.99 ($18.44). The 24-hour pass, which offered the same range of channels for a shorter period of time, has been cut from £9.99 ($16.77) to £6.99 ($11.74), though this is apparently for a limited amount of time. The week-long pass is also said to be increasing in a few months time.

The extra option will be useful for both existing and non-Sky customers, as it provides a way for them to watch the premium sports channels without paying £24.50 ($41.14) per month for the bundle, on top of an existing Sky subscription. Non-customers of the broadcaster can also get away with watching the channels without installing any extra equipment, as apps to watch the service are available on a large number of platforms, as well as through its own Now TV hardware.
