HTC Nexus tablet allegedly surfaces on Korean regulator filing

updated 08:48 am EDT, Fri August 8, 2014

Leaks suggest 64-bit Tegra processor in rumored HTC-produced Nexus tablet

Multiple leaks suggest HTC's rumored tablet is still on the way, and could be announced soon. Codenamed T1, but previously named as Volantis and Flounder, the device is believed to be a new Nexus tablet, possibly the Nexus 8 or Nexus 9, with the device apparently spotted on South Korean communications regulator RRA's website passing certification.

The certification noticed by G for Games bears the same 0P82100 model number as earlier leaks, effectively confirming it to be the HTC tablet. Though it does not reveal anything specific about the device itself, the appearance of the model number on the regulator's site could be considered a sign for an impending launch.

Specifications from UpLeaks on Twitter claim it will have a 64-bit Tegra processor, 4GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera with a 1.6-megapixel front counterpart, GPS, and NFC. It is also claimed the T1 will have Android L onboard without HTC's Sense overlay, something which certainly falls in line with other Nexus devices.

It is possible Google is preparing the device for a third-quarter release, and is likely to be one of the first devices available running on Android L when it does launch. Its expected 8-inch or 9-inch screen may push the price up in comparison to earlier Nexus models, possibly in the region of $400.
