Three variants of Surface Pro 3 with differing processors, capacities go on sale

Microsoft has put the Core i3 and Core i5 versions of the Surface Pro 3 on sale in the United States. Coming over a month after the Core i5 models became available through the Microsoft Store, the three new additions to the Surface Pro 3 collection provide not only a new cheapest option, but also two models at the higher-specification end of the range.

Just as with the Core i5 models, the new variants have a 12-inch 2160x1440 display capable of accepting stylus input from the Surface Pen, a rear 5-megapixel camera with a front-facing HD webcam, front and rear microphones, and Dolby Audio stereo speakers. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, and Mini DisplayPort, the magnesium casing uses the updated kickstand with more angle options, and the battery is said to last for up to nine hours of web browsing.

Spotted by PC World, the incoming Intel Core i3 is clocked at 1.5GHz and has 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and Intel HD Graphics 4200. Both the Intel Core i7 models have the same 3.3GHz clock speed, 8GB of RAM, and Intel HD Graphics 5000, though one has 256GB of storage, and other has 512GB.

The 64GB Core i3 Surface Pro 3 is priced at $799, while the 256GB and 512GB Core i7 models are priced at $1,549 and $1,949 respectively. The Surface Pro Type Cover for the Surface Pro 3 is available separately for $130.
