Music control, recognition added to Casio G-Shock GBA-400
Casio is adding another smartwatch to its wristwear range, this time adding a new item to the G-Shock collection. The G-Shock GBA-400 provides the option to control music on an iPhone or Android smartphone over Bluetooth, with the additional ability to pipe nearby music to the smartphone for recognition by SoundHound, displaying the track information on the watch's digital display.
Connecting via the G-Shock+ and G'Mix apps, Slashgear reports the GBA-400 can use a wheel-based control on the side of the watch to manage music playback, with relevant details shown on the same LCD screen. Like others in the range, it is also ruggedly built, including water resistance to 20ATM and impact resistance, can display time for 100 cities around the world, and has a battery life said to last for up to two years, if the mobile functions are used for two hours per day.
Casio is making the G-Shock GBA-400 available from September 19th in Japan in a choice of four color combinations, priced at 23,000 yen ($225) before tax.
