Apple opens first 'open-air' temp shop in Switzerland's Glattzentrum

updated 10:55 am EDT, Thu July 31, 2014

Permanent location undergoing expansion

As anticipated, Apple has launched its first-ever "open-air" temporary store, located inside of the Glattzentrum mall in Wallisellen, Switzerland. The mall's primary Apple Store is undergoing an expansion. Workers won't say how long construction is expected to last, but the temporary shop has opened earlier than rumored, which could mean that the expansion will be ready in time for product launches expected in September and October, such as new iPhones and iPads.

The open-air space is said to be relatively limited, although it still has demonstration tables and shelving for accessories. If a person wants to buy a product such as a Mac, iPhone, or iPad, clerks have to fetch it from an inventory room.
