4.7-inch iPhone 6 already underway
Although mass production of a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is underway, other Apple products due this fall -- including new versions of the iPad Air and iPad mini, and the 5.5-inch iPhone -- have yet to begin assembly, according to Chinese-language publication UDN. The new iPads are expected to enter production in September, but there is no reported timeframe for the 5.5-inch iPhone. UDN makes no mention of the iWatch, something generally anticipated in the fall.
Past reports have suggested that while both new iPhones have encountered production obstacles, the 5.5-inch model has been hit hardest. Problems are believed to center around the display, uneven coloring on its metal shell, and/or battery difficulties. While some or all of these may have been resolved, that still leaves the device behind its 4.7-inch sibling, and it could ship as distantly as late October or early to mid-November.
