Xiaomi Mi 4 has 5-inch 1080p display, claimed quick-charging battery

Chinese mobile device manufacturer Xiaomi has unveiled two new items for the Chinese market. The Xizomi Mi 4 continues the Mi device line with a 5-inch display and a hint of iPhone styling, while the Mi Band is a low-cost fitness band which can be used as a proximity security system for the smartphone, allowing the Mi 4 to automatically unlock when it is held in the same hand that is also wearing the band.

Housed inside a metal frame with a range of plastic backing options, PhoneArena reports the Mi 4 has a 1080p display, backed by a quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and a choice of 16GB or 64GB of storage. On the back is a 13-megapixel camera capable of 4K video recording, while on the front is a an 8-megapixel version with an 80-degree wide-angle lens. Xiaomi boasts that its 3,080mAh battery can last for a day and a half, and thanks to its rapid charging, it can go from empty to a 60-percent charge in under an hour. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and LTE connectivity is also included.

The brightly-colored Mi Band is a relatively-simple device when compared to other fitness trackers, lacking any sort of display, but it does include a collection of sensors for the typical fitness tracker functionality. Able to survive for up to 30 days on one battery charge, the Mi Band also has IP67-level waterproofing and can be used as a quiet alarm clock.
