Briefly: Google Now reminders in search, Netflix privacy mode testing

updated 06:57 am EDT, Mon July 21, 2014

Google Now reminders can be created via Google Search

Google is now allowing for the creation of reminders in Google Search. Similar to the vocal method using Google Voice Search and Google Now on smartphones, Google Operating System reports users can set a reminder by typing "Add reminder" or "Create Reminder" in the search box. A reminder card with extra settings will then appear, with a "Remind me on Google Now" link finalizing the notification.

Netflix tests privacy mode, hides movies from activity log

Netflix is said to be testing a "Privacy Mode" for its streaming service. According to GigaOm, the mode will allow subscribers to select a show or film for viewing, but not allowing it to appear in the activity log. In theory, this will prevent uncharacteristic or embarrassing viewing choices from being viewed by friends if Facebook sharing is enabled, and also disregards the item from future show recommendations. The feature is apparently in testing across multiple markets, and could end up being offered to all users within months.

Phew! Finally, I won't have to worry about binge-watching My Little Pony and having it show up in Recently Viewed. :)
