Samsung launches Level premium audio products in North America

updated 06:25 pm EDT, Thu July 17, 2014

Four audio devices including Bluetooth speaker and in-ear headphones start at $150

Samsung is jumping into the premium audio market in North America with four new consumer offerings for headphones and Bluetooth speakers. Samsung launched the Level line of audio products today, aiming for high quality sound, portability and style. The Level Over, On and In give consumers options based on the type of style headphone preferred, while the Box speaker allows music to be shared with others.

The Level Over is the most expensive product, coming in at $350 for the over-ear headphones. Samsung says that the Over delivers "powerful, clear, sharp sound" and is designed for comfort. The headphones include Active Noise Cancellation, using four mics on the outside to cancel sound. The Level Over also uses technology to help avoid booming events between the vibration play and the frame to preserve the original sounds. Controls are accessed on the side for volume, tracks, play/pause and answering phone calls on the Bluetooth headphones. Samsung's Level app can be used with the Over for additional options.

An on-ear pair of headphones, the Level On, feature a wired design that's compact when compared to the Over. The ear cups contain polyurethane cushions for comfort, while the headphones are designed for ergonomics. The On can be folded up for people that need a set of headphones that can be tucked away on the go. Price for the Level On is $180.

Those that prefer an in-ear option can look to the Level In. The wired ear buds feature a three-way speaker system and an inline control. Samsung says the system controls treble, mids and deep bass for sound separation and a rich natural sound. The Level In ear buds are priced at $150.

Samsung's Level Box offers a distinct brushed metal design that is sure to draw some attention. The Bluetooth speaker is optimized for noise reduction and echo cancellation. The speaker allows pairing to any Bluetooth device, either manually or through Near-Field Communication (NFC). The Box contains controls for volume and pause/play, and a microphone for speakerphone capabilities. Battery life is said to last for 15 hours of continuous play on a single charge. Commanding the second-highest price tag of all, the new Line audio products, the Box will set consumers back $300.

Consumers can purchase the Level line right now from Gilt.com. Amazon, and Samsung.com. Samsung Experience centers in Best Buy stores will have the audio products for sale by the end of the month.
