Team discounts now on sale
Dashlane has launched version 3 of its namesake password and wallet management software for Mac and Windows. The update features two major additions, beginning with the Sharing Center, which lets people share passwords with other people while maintaining central control and AES-256 encryption. Although recipients must have a Dashlane account, the system gives administrators the ability to limit re-shares or revoke access, and will sync password changes made by others.
A new Emergency section meanwhile lets people assign read-only access to Dashlane data if the usual owner isn't available. Access can be assigned selectively per individual, and/or set to kick in only after a specific time period, for instance letting family members into key accounts if a person ends up in hospital.
The basic software is free, but limited to a single device and sharing five items at a time. The $30 annual Premium subscription adds multi-device use and sync, along with unlimited sharing, backup functions, and web access to passwords. Businesses and families can now buy Premium accounts in team bundles.
