Verizon adding LTE support to Allset prepaid plans on Thursday

updated 12:33 am EDT, Wed July 16, 2014

Plans start at $45 per month for contract free unlimited talk and modest data

Verizon announced on Tuesday that it will start offering LTE "4G" support to customers of its prepaid division, Allset, starting on Thursday, July 17. New customers can bring their own LTE-capable devices or purchase a handset through Verizon. The spin-off division supports any device that can use Verizon's CDMA-based network, and offers unlimited talk and text with 500MB of data for $45 per month, contract-free. Those who set up autopay will gain another 500MB of data per month for a total of 1GB.

Users who require more data can purchase additional data at modest amounts -- however the "Bridge Data," as the company calls it, expires 90 days after purchase. The pricing runs from $5 for an additional 500MB, to $10 for an additional 1GB, and 3GB for $20. Allset supports the iPhone 4 or higher, the Galaxy S4 or later, the Moto X, and the HTC One among other models.

The plans also include unlimited North American texting at no additional cost (this includes Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico), and data includes sharing through "personal hotspot" connections to notebooks and other Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
