AirBnB revamps look of app for iOS 7, adds 'Discover' feature
Short-term housing and accommodations app Airbnb (free) has been redecorating its entire public-facing image, from redesigning its website and sporting a new logo to bringing the flatter and larger design language of iOS 7 to its latest update. The new version of the app offers larger images and fonts, but retains the main features that both hosts and would-be renters use to connect. A new "Discover" feature lets users find places to stay through less conventional means, such as by theme, as well as the traditional methods of where and when.
Jawbone adds wellness features to Jawbone UP
The fitness app UP by Jawbone (free), which is used with the company's wearable wristband fitness monitors UP and UP24, has also tweaked its user interface, and additionally has added new tools that can help users monitor food intake and manage their weight. Though the wristbands generally monitor the user's activity without much interaction required, the weight-related features now allow users to spend time logging foods or meals consumed, as well as the amount of water the user drinks.
A database of restaurant menus and food pairings is available for quick logging, and users can add frequently-eaten meals to the database as well for easy access. The app now offers a "food score" to dishes based on how healthy they are. Users can set goals for weight and calorie intake, with results presented through charts.
