Updated Cocktail released, offers toggling of App Napp
Utility app Cocktail has released a new version for OS X, providing additional control over select functions. Cocktail is a digital toolset that assists users in maintaining and augmenting their Mac computer in a variety of ways, through a simplistic interface. Cocktail v7.5.2 (Mavericks Edition) provides the added ability to change tool tip display delay -- tool tips explain what an application button's function is when the user moves the mouse pointer over it. The App Nap energy-saving feature can now be disabled system wide if desired. Cocktail v7.5.2 requires OS X Mavericks 10.9 to run, and is priced at $20 for a single license, and $40 for a Family license for up to five computers.
Intego's Duplicate Zapper launches
Intego has announced the launch of its duplicate removal software, Duplicate Zapper. Based on Mac cleaning software Washing Machine, Duplicate Zapper allows users to detect and remove duplicate files found on one's computer by comparing contents beyond time stamps and file size. The app does not delete files that are critical to either OS X or installed applications, therefore avoiding causing damage.
Files can be deleted to the trash in the normal manner, or securely, and auto-select options simplify file management and the review process. Search location restrictions stop scans in shared folders or other unnecessary locations to save time. Duplicate Zapper is priced at $7, and is available through the App Store for OS X 10.7 or later.
