WD launches dual-drive My Book Duo; with RAID, USB 3.0

New drive array available in up to 8TB capacity

Drive manufacturer WD today introduced the My Book Duo, the newest member of its line of desktop storage solutions for home and office. The new unit utilizes two drives, hardware-level RAID and USB 3.0, and is available in 4TB, 6TB and 8TB capacities, My Book Duo also comes with software that creates secure local, cloud and system-level backups.

The company claims the device can move data at up to 290MB per second. The unit ships in RAID 0, but can be reconfigured for RAID 1 or JBOD. The unit has AES hardware encryption and password protection for user data security. Native format is NTFS, but the drives are reformattable to HFS+ for native OS X use.

Pricing for My Book Duo is $280 for 4TB, $350 for 6TB, and $450 USD for 8TB.
