Free subscription to MapMyFitness MVP included with Galaxy S5 Sport
Sprint has unveiled its own version of Samsung's hard-wearing Galaxy S5 Active it launched last month. The Galaxy S5 Sport is an outdoor-friendly variant of the Galaxy S5, with a textured body to aid grip, hardware keys on the front, and IP67 water and dust resistance, with Sprint loading the Spark LTE-enabled smartphone with a number of apps aimed at helping the user keep fit.
The specifications list effectively remains the same as the Active, including a 5.1-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM, a rear 16-megapixel camera, and a rear heart rate sensor. Samsung's Activity Zone app is included, providing a barometer, compass, flashlight, and stopwatch on one screen. As part of a deal with Under Armour, the device will ship with a free 12-month subscription to MapMyFitness MVP, providing audio coaching, training plans, and live tracking among other features.

Sprint continues to promote its health-related credentials, with the carrier suggesting buyers could use the three or six-month trial of Spotify Premium to access Spotify Workout playlists, and by using the "Sprint Fit Live" platform. This collects together all fitness data from the on-device apps and presents them to the user on one page, allowing them to see a more-complete picture of their health.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport will go on sale on July 25th at $27.09 per month for 24 months under Easy Pay with $0 up front, with earlier customers also receiving a $50 discount on a Gear Fit.
