First 64-bit Samsung release could be entry-level smartphone

A Samsung smartphone with a 64-bit processor has been spotted in benchmarks. GFXBench 3.0 benchmarks for a device with the model number SM-G510F show it as running Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 processor, a low-powered 64-bit chip launched late last year, and suggests the company could be preparing for a more formal launch of 64-bit devices in the future.

The rest of the specifications brought up in the benchmark, spotted by Oude Telefoon Inleveren, show the device as having a 4.8-inch 960x540 display, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage. Image resolutions detailed suggest an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel version on the front, with the device also having NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and an installation of Android 4.4.2, most likely with Samsung's Touchwiz overlay.

The final name and release date for the device are unknown, though the report believes it will be released before the end of the year, with the F suffix of the model number possibly signifying a release in Europe.

The Snapdragon 410 is one of the lower-specification processors Qualcomm produces. The company recently revealed the Snapdragon 810 and 808, two 64-bit 20nm chips with Cat 6 LTE-A and 4K resolution support, with the first devices using the processors set to be released in early 2015.
