Wikipad announces Gamevice controller for iPad mini

updated 10:23 am EDT, Wed June 18, 2014

Plans for Android, Windows 8 may have been scrapped

Wikipad has officially debuted the Gamevice, an MFI-certified controller for the iPad mini. The accessory comes in two halves that attach along the top and bottom edges of the tablet. In action it features a complete set of iOS 7-compatible controls, including twin analog sticks, a d-pad, four face buttons, and two triggers.

The device is a rare example of an MFI controller specifically for iPads rather than the iPhone. When the Gamevice was first revealed in January, it was in fact intended for Android and Windows 8 tablets, with iOS merely being a long-term possibility. Wikipad appears to have abandoned the first two platforms, presumably because of the greater popularity of iOS.

The company has yet to announce a price or release date. It should, however, have the product out before the holidays, and interested people can currently sign up for email updates.
