Beta 2 of iOS 8 integrates Podcasts app, ports QuickType to iPad

Safari sees several minor changes

The second iOS 8 beta includes some minor but still important changes, users note. Podcasts, for instance, is no longer a separate app, but supplied with the OS and impossible to remove, as with iBooks since beta 1. Apple initially spun Podcasts off of the core Music app in a previous edition of iOS.

The new beta also brings iOS 8's QuickType keyboard to the iPad. Much like Android, QuickType speeds up typing by displaying suggested words based on past behavior.

Two more updates affect Safari. By tapping and holding the Bookmarks button, users can now quickly save a bookmark or add a site to Shared Links. The browser has also been set to block ads that automatically redirect people to the App Store; normally, ads are supposed to request permission first.

    According to the release notes, Safari will now block ads from automatically redirecting to the App Store without user interaction.

    Bet you won't like THAT feature, huh, MacNN? Yeah, we noticed. And yeah, it's pretty bad style.

    That's never happened to me on MacNN.

    It has, however, happened to me numerous times on other reputable sites. It does not appear to be something that the sites themselves have control over.

    SO glad this ****wittery is being killed.
