Battery issues fixed with 5.5-inch iPhone, report claims

updated 10:53 am EDT, Tue June 3, 2014

Device back on track for 2014

Apple has solved battery problems that were interfering with the production of the 5.5-inch iPhone, says Chinese site Laoyaoba. Supplier Sunwoda Electronics is expected to manufacture 20 million batteries for the device; Apple's normal batter supplier, Dynapack, should also join up, but has allegedly had trouble meeting demand. The report claims that Apple is hoping to have 20 million 5.5-inch phones ready by the end of 2014.

Both battery and display issues have reportedly plagued the device's production. One rumor even suggested that the phone might not reach the public until early 2015, but that would be out of character for Apple's release schedule. Instead it will most likely arrive a month or two after its 4.7-inch sibling, which is anticipated in September.
