Galaxy Tab S believed to use AMOLED display, borrow Galaxy S5 features

Samsung could be preparing to show at least two devices at its Galaxy Premiere 2014 event on June 12th, according to reports. Support pages and feature details for what is believed to be the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 have surfaced, while a device with a seven-inch display has been certified by the FCC, one which could be called the Galaxy W in South Korea and form part of the Galaxy Mega range elsewhere.

The Galaxy Mega 2, spotted at the FCC by SamMobile, is rumored to have a 720p display backed by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor believed to be a Snapdragon 400. It is thought to also use 1.5GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and 8GB of expandable storage, though the onboard Android 4.3 could be upgraded to Android 4.4 if it receives a wider release. While it appears to have the looks of a phablet, the report notes the model number of SM-T2558 uses the T prefix for the second half, a letter typically reserved by the company for tablets.

SamMobile also learned in firmware documentation the Galaxy Tab S will borrow some aspects of the Galaxy S5. The fingerprint scanner and Ultra Power Saving Mode from the smartphone appear in images, along with a similar wallpaper selection and Samsung's Magazine UX. The two support sites for the device, spotted by SammyToday, provide barely any information about the device, except that the model number SM-T800 exists, the code associated with the tablet in rumors. The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is believed to have a 10.5-inch 2560x1600 AMOLED display, with an octa-core Exynos 5430 processor and 3GB of RAM, and could be accompanied by a smaller 8.4-inch model at launch.
