Smile updates TextExpander to improve searching, groups user interface

Productivity application developer, Smile, has released an update to its typing shortcut tool. TextExpander allows users to insert standard greetings, text and signatures by using abbreviations. TextExpander v4.3.0 improves search performance and allows the expansion or collapse of all groups in the TextExpander window. The issue of non-PNG image links that have previously disappeared has been resolved. Other new components to the update include snippet creation hotkeys support in applications where expansion is disabled, improves cursor positioning accuracy, and various fixes. Pricing for individuals users starts at $35, and requires OS X 10.7 or later.

Sonnet announces new server rackmount Thunderbolt 2-to-PCIe expansion systems

Sonnet Technologies today announced five new mobile rack device mounting kits for the Echo Express III-R, a 3U rackmount Thunderbolt 2-to-PCI Express expansion system, and for the recently announced xMac Pro Server Thunderbolt 2-to-PCIe expansion system and 4U rackmount enclosure for new Mac Pro computers. Offering the ability to add two 5.25-inch mobile rack devices to their equipment rack without taking up more space, kits that include drive cages require the user to purchase SATA hard disk drive or Solid State Drives. The new preconfigured mobile rack systems include an internal 100-watt power supply and 40mm fan, swappable 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drive cages, a Blue-ray burner, or a professional video media card reader; a PCIe controller card to support the devices; and the necessary cables to connect them together.

Mobile rack device mounting kits are available in a Storage Expansion x8 Edition, Blu-ray Mastering Edition, Pro Media Reader Edition, the Mac Pro Migration Edition, and Data Arching and Storage Edition. Pricing starts at $700, and all five new kits are available immediately.
