Combined PadFone X smartphone, tablet still lacks a shipping date in US

The Asus PadFone X will finally arrive to the United States later this year, with AT&T announcing it will be starting pre-orders for the device from June 6th. The carrier did not reveal exactly when it will start shipping the smartphone and dockable-tablet combination, but it did confirm it will be selling both components together as a bundle.

The smartphone element of the PadFone X has a 5-inch Full HD display, backed by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage expandable by microSD. On the back is a 13-megapixel f/2.0 camera with a front-facing 2-megapixel counterpart, with connectivity over Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi, as well as supporting VoLTE over AT&T's 4G LTE network.

Able to accept the smartphone into a rear dock, the PadFone Station provides a 9-inch 1920x1200 screen and uses the smartphone for main processing functions. The front-facing camera of the smartphone is replaced by a 1-megapixel version, with the dock adding an extra 4,990mAh of battery to the smartphone's existing 2,300mAh version.

AT&T will be pricing the Asus PadFone X at $199.99 on a new contract, or alternately for $22.92 per month under AT&T Next 18, or $29.80 per month via Next 12.
