Photos show alleged aluminum mold for iPhone 6 cases

updated 02:48 pm EDT, Thu May 22, 2014

Contains few details of final product

New photos show what is claimed to be an aluminum mold manufacturers are using to produce cases for the iPhone 6. Because it's simply a mold, it lacks many details. It does however appear to have characteristics spotted in other leaks, most notably an iPad-style back with rounded edges.

The size of the mold is difficult to determine, but based on proportions it appears to be for the rumored 4.7-inch iPhone, rather than its anticipated 5.5-inch sibling. Production of the latter has reportedly been delayed because of display issues, which may mean that case molds won't be ready for another few months.

Wow . . . all these iPhone leaks seem so last-month, and now they just are getting downright mold-y.

Oh sweet, now I can buy an iPhone for $100 less.
