Leak claims Moto X+1 heading to four main US carriers

updated 02:46 pm EDT, Tue May 20, 2014

Update to Moto X could be codenamed Victara

The next version of Motorola's Moto X will be heading to all four major carriers in the United States, according to a rumor. Believed to be called the "Moto X+1," a name revealed in a similar leak last month, the smartphone also apparently goes by the codename "Victara" and will in theory go on sale through AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

The new information from serial leaker evleaks expands the list of carriers from AT&T, an item that was previously leaked through Motorola's website earlier this month. The Victara name could prove to be useful when searching through various databases. Little else is known about the device, save for its name and another leak claiming it will ship with a similar array of back cover options to the Moto X, including wood and leather.

While a launch date is unknown, it is possible Motorola could be waiting until August to launch the device, marking one year since the launch of the Moto X. It is also possible the company will wait until after Lenovo has completed its acquisition of the company from Google, an event that could take place at around the same time.
