LA Lakers' Kobe Bryant seen on Apple's Cupertino campus

updated 09:43 am EDT, Fri May 16, 2014

Bryant reportedly met with Jonathan Ive's design team

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was spotted with his wife Vanessa yesterday at Apple's Cupertino headquarters, a photo from an anonymous source reveals. The source of the photo also claims that the couple met with Apple's lead designer, Jonathan Ive; rumors hint that the topic was about upcoming products. Either assertion is difficult to verify, but it's relatively rare for celebrities to be seen at Apple's campus, suggesting that Bryant wasn't there on a casual visit.

One speculated possibility is that Bryant was present to discuss the iWatch and/or iOS 8's Healthbook app. Apple has been rumored as partnering with Nike on the iWatch, and Bryant counts Nike as one of his endorsements, which would make his association with the iWatch a natural connection. One potential complication is a contract Bryant signed with Swiss watchmaker Hublot in March 2013, but the exact terms of that deal aren't known.

Apple is known to be pursuing more celebrity endorsements. Recently it opened up a position for a "buzz marketing manager," whose express goal is to get Apple products into the hands of celebrities. The job is believed to be a reaction to moves by Samsung, which paid for product placement at the Oscars, and counts another basketball player -- the Miami Heat's LeBron James -- as a marketing partner.

Or maybe Vanessa just needed an Apple Genius to look at her iPhone which isn't sending out her emails properly.

Maybe Apple is buying the Lakers, and they want to put Jonny Ive as point guard
