Microsoft support page may be sign of Surface Pro 3 launch next week

Updated Surface Pro could launch alongside Surface Mini at Microsoft event

Microsoft may be planning to launch a third full-size iteration of its Surface tablet line at its May 20th event, alongside the expected launch of the Surface Mini. A support page on Microsoft's website for a Windows 8.1 update mentions it "adds support to the Surface Pro 3 camera," which could be a sign it will make an appearance at Tuesday's event.

The support page no longer mentions the "Surface Pro 3" at all, with The Verge suggesting it could be a typing error, though the page now refers to the update supporting "the H.264 camera" instead, a more-generic term that removes models of devices from view. If it was just a mistyping of "Surface Pro 2," it is difficult to think of a justification for changing the sentence entirely, except to refer to other future models without having to update the page again after launch.

Rumors from earlier this year suggested a Surface 3 reveal with the Surface Mini, with the tablet using the 64-bit "Denver" version of Nvidia's Tegra K1 processor. The Surface Mini is thought to have a 7.5-inch display and similar styling to the full-size versions, and could also ship in Wi-Fi and LTE variants.
