Logic Pro X 10.0.7 improves 12-core support, streamlines interface

updated 04:48 pm EDT, Tue May 13, 2014

Solves problems with Low Latency Mode, XML import/export

Apple has issued a minor update to Logic Pro X, v10.0.7. For owners of 12-core Mac Pros, the software now supports 24 processing threads. Apple has also made some attempts at streamlining Logic's interface, for instance by allowing current volume, pan, and send values for selected tracks to be inserted at the playhead position, and for automation to be copied and pasted to any location via the Marquee tool. Another new option permits MIDI volume and pan data to adjust an instrument plugin instead of the channel strip.

The update also addresses several bugs, most notably a problem with Low Latency Mode that would cause plugins with integrated step sequencers -- like Drummer and Ultrabeat -- to fall out of sync. XML import and export for Final Cut Pro X has been been improved, and glitches related to snap and alignment guides have been fixed.

Logic Pro X is $200 new, but the update is free to existing users. The app requires OS X 10.8.4 or later.
