LG reveals 7-inch, 8-inch, 10.1-inch range of G Pad tablets

updated 05:19 am EDT, Mon May 12, 2014

New tablet range expands from existing LG G Pad 8.3

LG has unveiled a trio of Android tablets in varying sizes, a tactic used by long-time rival Samsung. Arriving shortly after the G Pad 8.3 release, the new G Pad range consists of the G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0, and G Pad 10.1, and though the three vary in size compared to the earlier launch and each other, measuring 7, 8, and 10.1 inches respectively, they appear to have a similar design aesthetic and could have similar specifications to the 8.3.

The G Pad 7.0 is said by the company to be an "on-the-go entertainment hub," with the G Pad 8.0 thought to be ideal for multitasking, while LG emphasizes the screen size and battery capacity of the G Pad 10.1. The range will include an updated version of Qpair, an app which connected Android smartphones to the tablet over Bluetooth, passing notifications and calls to the tablet, as well as LG's Knock Code tap-based security.

LG has not provided specifications and availability details for the three tablets, advising they will become available in the coming weeks, though it will be demonstrating the new range at MedPI 2014 in Monaco later this week.
