Samsung to launch Tizen smartphone in Russia, India

According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung will be releasing a new smartphone based in Russia and India running its own Tizen operating system. Tizen OS is open-source, aside from its Android elements that the company licenses from Google, and is seen as an alternative to Android and iOS. The official launch is expected to occur during an "Unpacked" event, akin to its flagship smartphone unveilings toward the end of the second quarter.
