No successor named, exec wanted to work in a different division

Coming a scant few months after a shakeup at the top of Google's ads and commerce division, Google's vice president of engineering for display and video ads at its DoubleClick subsidiary is changing jobs. Joerg Heilig is shifting to an undisclosed position at Google, "influenced a bit by the recent changes in ad management, but mostly by my desire to work on a very different engineering area."

DoubleClick is a subsidiary of Google which develops and provides Internet ad-serving services. Its clients include agencies, marketers and publishers who serve customers like Microsoft, General Motors, Coca-Cola, Motorola, L'Oréal, Apple, Visa USA, Nike, Carlsberg among many others. Google purchased the outfit in 2008 for $3.1 billion.

Heilig was responsible for display and video ads engineering, including the Google Display Network, Youtube monetization, and the DoubleClick family of advertising platform products. Earlier at Google, he worked on scaling Gmail to millions of users. He joined Google in 2004 from Sun Microsystem's office in Germany.
