Mujjo Slim Fit iPad Air Sleeve is a beautiful premium protective cover
MacNN has had the opportunity to go hands-on with Mujjo's new Slim Fit iPad Air Sleeve, one of its new line of 'Understated' products in tan leather. We have previously had the opportunity to go hands-on with Mujjo' s iPhone 5/5s wallet, and were impressed by the Dutch company's tasteful and elegant designs. Unlike many of its competitors, Mujjo has opted for natural and organic materials, including leather, felt and wool that provide a gorgeous contrast with Apple's industrial aluminum and glass designs, in particular.
The iPad Air, which we reviewed back in November is Apple's most evolved version of the iPad yet. It is amazingly thin and light, particularly for a full-sized tablet, making it ideal for carrying around the office or for taking to meetings where light productivity is required. Apple makes its own Smart Cover (made from polyurethane), while it also makes Smart Case (made from leather). Although both are solid products, the Smart Cover doesn't protect the rear of the iPad Air, while the Smart Case adds more bulk than we would prefer.
The Mujjo Slim Fit iPad Air Sleeve is an excellent practical alternative, yet it is also highly attractive and professional looking. I've been using it for the past few days on the regular commute to the office, and have also been carrying around the office for meetings as well as when attending meetings off site. It has certainly caught the eye of some of my colleagues, who particularly liked the pocket on the front, that I've been using to carry meeting notes and a pen. However, it can also be used for carrying ear buds, for example, or anything else that fits. It protects the iPad Air, front and back, while adding minimal bulk. The addition of the pocket is a great idea, often making it possible to leave the briefcase or backpack at the office when I venture out.
To help keep the design snug, as well as slim line, Mujjo has opted not to accommodate an iPad Air with any accessories, like the Apple Smart Cover. If you really need to take that with you, you can fold it and drop it in the sleeve pocket, or you can simply rest your iPad Air against the Mujjo Slim Fit iPad Air sleeve to give you an angled surface to type on, if needed. I've actually preferred using my iPad Air with the Mujjo sleeve as it means that when I hold the iPad Air after taking it out of the sleeve, I can enjoy it in all of its light-weight glory. I've used the Apple Smart Case until now, but while it both protects the iPad Air and allows you to type on it, it is relatively weighty and doesn't allow you tote anything else along with it.
While the Mujjo Slim Fit iPad Air Sleeve is beautiful to look at, it is also lovely to hold. It is cut from one single piece of vegetable-tanned leather that has also been waxed to extend its durability and also treated with aniline oil to enrich its color. Its raw edges at to its beauty, while the interior of the case is also raw, letting the natural smell of the leather permeate. The sleeve's leather is also naturally resistant to drops, while the stitched edges further help to reinforce the strength of the sleeve, helping to ensure that your iPad Air will live to see another day if inadvertantly dropped.
We can highly recommend the Mujjo Slim Fit iPad Air Sleeve as it is both practical and lovely to look at and hold. It is a premium product designed to perfectly complement Apple's premium tablet. Mujjo Slim Fit iPad Air Sleeve is available through the Mujjo online store for around $97 plus shipping.
