Home audience some of the toughest critics in user satisfaction study

Once again, Apple's iPhone has outperformed South Korea's own Samsung in a user satisfaction survey comparing the latest models from the two rivals. In fact, the iPhone 5s widened the gap from a similar survey a year ago, scoring 798 out of a possible 1,000, while Samsung scored 600 (last year, the score was 778 to 592). Some 88.2 percent of iPhone owners said they were satisfied with their purchase, compared to 52.3 percent of Galaxy S5 owners.

The survey showed a general unhappiness with the Korean-native firms Samsung, LG and Pantech. All three generally scored around the same level in both totals and overall satisfaction, with LG nudging Samsung out of second place with 54.2 percent satisfaction and score of 609. All three Korean companies received mediocre marks in all categories, while Apple's single low score (which was still above the average) came in the "durability" category.

The iPhone 5s received an overall score of 810, a marked improvement over the iPhone 5's score of 742. LG's G Pro 2 took third place at 702, the Asus-made Nexus 5 scored 659 overall followed by the LG G2 at 654. Samsung's Galaxy S5 took sixth place with a score of 652. In the manufacturer rankings, Samsung was ranked below average in design, display, processing speed, multimedia speed, size and weight, usability, response to touch, latest tech and UI design.

Analysts from Marketing Insight, which did the study, expressed surprise at the huge gap between Apple and the domestic manufacturers' scores, and noted that "considering that the products satisfaction usually decreases as the longer time has based since the product released, the score of iPhone 5s is amazing." The study was drawn from the responses of nearly 10,000 smartphone buyers. Apple is thought to have at least 15 percent marketshare in South Korea.

Now let's see if the US news media will pick up on this. It would make Samsung look absolutely foolish. *crickets*

Where are all the Samsung paid commenters?? Why aren't they here as usual, slinging mud at Apple??
