updated 07:30 am EDT, Tue May 6, 2014

Lenovo Chromebooks have 4GB RAM, 16GB storage, touchscreen options

Lenovo is expanding its range of notebooks to include two Chromebooks. Revealed ahead of an event hosted by Google and Intel concerning the Chrome OS, the Lenovo N20 and N20p Chromebooks offer relatively similar entry-level specifications, though the N20p adds a touchscreen and a 300-degree hinge that allows it to be used as a standing tablet, similar to the recent Flex 2 notebooks.

Both use an 11.6-inch 1366x768-resolution display, with and without the touch capabilities. Powered by an Intel Celeron processor with up to 4GB of memory, the Chromebooks can have up to 16GB of storage depending on the configuration, as well as two USB ports, HDMI out, an SD and MMC card reader, stereo speakers with a combined audio jack, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.02, and a 1-megapixel webcam. Both measure 11.6-inches by 8.3 inches by 0.7 inches, with the N20p slightly heavier than the N20, at 3.1 pounds and 2.8 pounds respectively.

Offering up to eight hours of battery life, the N20 Chromebook is priced starting from $279 and will ship in July. The N20p Chromebook will go on sale in August, priced at $329.
