Laptops in 5000 line offers three sizes, two sizes for all-in-one PC models
A new series in the Inspiron line of laptops and all-in-one PCs has been announced by Dell. The new series offers what the company calls "mainstream performance" at prices starting as low as $450. Laptops in the new line feature Full HD touch displays in the 15- and 17-inch models, backlit keyboards and brushed aluminum lids. The new all-in-one PCs feature a thinner design without cutting back on processing power. All of the models have 20 GB of Dropbox cloud storage space included with the purchase as well.
The new Inspiron 5000 series of laptop features three sizes for consumers in 14-, 15- and 17-inch configurations, all powered by fourth-generation Intel Core processors. The Inspiron 5000 15-inch currently includes an i5-4210U 2.7 GHz processor, while the 14-inch includes an i3-4020U 1.87 GHz unit. Processors start out with the i3-4030U 1.9 GHz Intel processor, but scale up to an i7-4510U 3.1 GHz based on customization options. All of the laptops in the new line make use of integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400.
Dell says that the Inspiron 14 5000 will have a battery life of approximately eight hours in normal use, while the 15-inch model will go for about 7.5 hours through standard three-cell batteries. Other standard options for the machines include 500GB hard drives, 4GB of ram, DVD drives, Waves MaxxAudio system and a one-year warranty.
New Inspiron all-in-one PCs are available in 20 and 23-inch models, featuring Full HD touch displays with edge to edge glass. The Inspiron 23 5000 series will include an Intel Core processor beginning with the i3-4000M 2.4 GHz and going up to the i5-4700MQ 3.4 GHz core. Other components start with a 1TB hard drive, 6GB of RAM and Waves MaxxAudio.
Both AMD and Intel processors are available in the Inspiron 20 3000, bringing in an AMD E1-2500 APU 1.4 GHz processor for those looking to get in a base model of the machine. The base machine will also include 4GB of RAM, Wave MaxxAudio and a 500GB hard drive.
Laptops in the Inspiron 5000 series are available now at Dell while the new all-in-one PCs will see their availability open up on May 6.
