Galaxy S5 owners advised to contact Samsung, carriers for servicing

Samsung has issued an update over the camera bug affecting a number of the Galaxy S5 smartphones the company has shipped. It has discovered the cause of the fault, which displays a warning on the phone's screen and leaves owners unable to use the camera function at all, and is reportedly taking steps to fix the issue in existing handsets, as well as preventing it from occurring again.

In a statement received by Reuters, Samsung writes: "We have discovered that the issue has been seen in a very limited portion of early production Galaxy S5 units, and was caused by complications in the ROM (Read Only Memory) component which stores the information necessary to operate the camera."

It is unclear how many customers are affected by the issue, but Samsung confirmed it applies to not only devices sold in the United States, but also abroad. The company advises affected customers to call Samsung's warranty line on 1-888-987-4357 or to contact their service provider for a service under warranty.
