MagicPlay acts as bridge between Google Cast API and AirPlay

Google Play Music on Android can be used to stream music through AirPlay devices, thanks to a release from doubleTwist. MagicPlay: AirPlay for Android, downloadable from Google Play and works with the existing doubleTwist Player, will act as a bridge between Google's Cast API for streaming to the Chromecast and AirPlay, granting the music service AirPlay support.

Users have to download the package and then hit the Cast button within the Google Play Music app, notes the company blog. After granting root access, the Google Play Music App needs to be closed and relaunched, which should then allow AirPlay devices to appear under the Cast tab. Engadget reports that the same app can be used for other apps that also use Android's Cast API, so the majority of Chromecast apps will also work with the method.

The MagicPlay package is priced at $3, and is claimed to work with the Apple TV and AirPort Express, as well as various Wi-Fi speakers and receivers. The required doubleTwist Player app is free.
