Innovation Museum exhibits include historical inventions, Samsung creations

Samsung has opened a museum in its native South Korea, to showcase its creations throughout the company's history. Located inside a five-story, 10,950 square-meter building in Samsung Digital City in Suwon, the Samsung Innovation Museum exhibits items not only made by Samsung, but also important products and artifacts that were created hundreds of years ago.

The museum is split into three separate main halls, with each representing different "Ages." The first hall, the Age of Inventors, covers pioneering advances in technology, including those of Thomas Edison, Michael Faraday, and Alexander Graham Bell, with Marconi's Wireless Telegraph "Maggie," Edison's early filament lamp, and the Maytag electric washing machine no.45 from 1911 being focused upon.

Hall 2, showing the Age of Industry Innovation, explores semiconductors, displays, and mobile telecommunications. The history and evolution of each sector are explained, with the mobile section containing the world's first mobile phone, and the world's first smartphone. Samsung also starts to make its presence known in the hall too, with its devices taking center stage, though products from Intel, Sony, Sharp, Nokia, and Motorola are also claimed by Samsung to be on display, with Engadget noting that Apple is represented with the Apple II PC, despite the current legal issues.

The last main hall, titled the Age of Creation, is more directly focused on Samsung products and services. A 180-degree UHD panorama screen will show videos of "Samsung's commitment to innovation an building a better future," with the latest Samsung devices and services being showcased, with visitors also able to try equipment out. One final Samsung History Hall is also open to visitors, explaining the company's start, challenges, and ethos.

The Samsung Innovation Museum is open from Monday to Saturday, with weekday visits requiring a reservation.
