Apple to mark Earth Day 2014 at retail and on campus

updated 10:40 am EDT, Thu April 17, 2014

Special event to take place at Apple headquarters

On April 22nd, Apple will be holding its first real Earth Day commemorations since 2006, reports say. At retail, the company is expected to cover its logos in green, and give at least some stores special Earth Day t-shirts for workers. Back at Apple's corporate headquarters in Cupertino, a "large-scale internal event" is due to happen on the afternoon of the 22nd, presumably with Earth Day as a focus.

The decision to put attention back on Earth Day may be connected to promoting recent successes in greening operations. Apple datacenters are now powered entirely by renewable energy, and the company's upcoming Campus 2 complex in Cupertino should rely heavily on a mix of solar and fuel cells.
