OWC updates its Hard Drive DIY Kit for expanding iMac storage

Other World Computing today introduced its new DIY Kit for all 2011 iMac and 27-inch 2012 iMac models, enabling owners to replace the factory-installed internal hard drive with up to a 6TB hard drive for expanded storage and back-up capacity. The kits feature a custom power cable with an in-line digital thermal sensor, ensuring proper factory fan operation and full compliance with Apple diagnostic testing.

All kits include a NewerTech 14-piece toolkit, Microfiber Pro cleaning cloth, custom iMac to HDD SATA 3.0 (6GB per second) interface and power cable with in-line Digital Thermal Sensor, and two suction cups for outer glass removal. Priced at $65, the DIY Kits can be purchased online.



PDFpen Scan+ 1.3 updates UI, adds improvements

Developer of productivity applications Smile has released an update for its mobile scanning and OCR app. PDFpen Scan+ v1.3.0 has been redesigned to offer a revised user interface that emphasizes simplified use.

Bulk scanning is faster with post-process image editing and cropping controls have been updated for greater precision. PDFpen Scan+ now includes "Receipt" and "Custom" sizes in its paper menu, and OCRed documents now offer an OCR results preview with text overlay. Other new additions include page rotation animations, page badges that show unprocessed images, and more. PDFpen Scan+ is currently priced at $5, and is available for download on the iTunes Store.
